The glacier marathon meanders through the impressive mountain scenery of the entire Pitztal. Starting at the foot of the glacier, runners can enjoy the most beautiful impressions that nature in the Pitztal mountains has to offer. Glacier marathon embodies the core values of sport since time immemorial: physical strength, stamina, fighting spirit and most importantly: camaraderie! The family atmosphere, friendliness of the marshal volunteers and the high spirits in the finish area are compelling.
NEW ROUTE NEW FINISH SINCE 2022
As usual, the marathon starts at 8 am in Mandarfen at an altitude of 1675 metres and winds its way along the valley road through the breathtaking natural scenery of the Pitztal valley, past forests, meadows and mountain giants, together with a manageable number of participants. In the hamlet of Stillebach, a loop is run on a paved gravel road.The route then takes you via the centre of the village of Arzl directly to the finish in the Gruabe Arena.The marathon runners cover a total of 1060 metres in altitude along the valley river to the finish, with a gentle downhill section and 230 metres of ascent.
The starting point for the half marathon is at 9 am in Eggenstall. New since 2022 is the 5.5-kilometre route, which is perfect for beginners and leisure runners and also starts at 10 am in Wenns.
There are other distances to choose from in addition to the marathon route.
